Membership Brunch 2015

While I agree that there are characteristic traits of a good leader, among them being: Honesty, Ability to Delegate, Communication, Confidence, Commitment, Positive Attitude, Creativity, Intuition, Ability to Inspire, and Humor (I looked all of those up!); I also believe no leader can convince people to do what they don’t already want to do. I am amazed at how willing the women of Ohev are to step forward and help. Someone just needs to ask! Thanks to Lois Clayman, who introduced us, I asked Linda Weinberg Hammer, and she graciously agreed to host our event.

I went to visit Linda in her home, which is a profusion of visual stimulation. She is pictured above leading guests through her many delicacies. Her beautiful home enchants all of the senses, from the lovely artwork and furnishings as you enter, through to her back yard where the flowing water in her pond and lovely landscape surround you. Linda is an event coordinator and has graciously agreed to open her home and to provide desserts for those that attend the event.

The nomination committee asked Audrey Asher and Donna Oberstein to chair one of our Sisterhood events, and they graciously accepted. This will be Ohev Sholom Sisterhood’s first program of the New Year. Audrey plans to moderate her panel (Donna, Kelly Jackson, and Debi Rosenberg) through a discussion of Pirkei Ima-ot… through the eyes of our Mothers. If we could hear their voices, what would they say? How would their words of wisdom differ from our Fathers’ in Pirkei Avot? They are sure to enlighten us.

Rita Brown and Lisa Litchman agreed to be co-membership chairs on the Sisterhood board. They will both be on hand at the event for those with membership questions. Sisterhood’s programming chair, Melanie Allmayer, is always there to help with advice as there’s no one better to help with programming. There are three people who are always available to lend a hand for publicity: Barb Stras makes all of our wonderful flyers, Sally Gordon sends articles to the Chronicle and Kira Lillard puts all of the information together on the website.

Thanks to all of these Sisterhood helpers and to the entire board, this event will take place on Sunday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m. Members and friends are welcome to this dairy potluck brunch. Please bring a dish to pass using this list by last name: A-G: Appetizers, H-N: Salads or Sides, O-Z: Entrees and RSVP to Terri Herman at tovah.intent@gmail.com or call 702-743-6290.

I look forward to seeing you there!
